Welcome to Mount Calvary Church…

Welcome to Mt. Calvary ChurchFounded in Baltimore in 1842, Mount Calvary Church has borne faithful witness to the essential truth of Catholic Christianity and the tradition of the Oxford Movement for over 150 years, and remains to this day a bulwark of orthodox Anglican practice. From its foundation, Mt. Calvary has “contended for the faith once delivered to all the saints,” the Catholic and Apostolic faith grounded in Holy Scripture as interpreted by the Fathers and Councils of the undivided Church.

Mount Calvary today…

continues these traditions. We hold to the articles of the Apostles’ Creed, the Nicene Creed and the Athanasian Creed. We believe that the Bible contains all things necessary for our salvation, and that Scripture bears the authority for the governance of the Church and for the living out of our lives.

We believe…

that salvation can be found only through Jesus Christ.

We believe…

that there really ARE moral absolutes in this world, and that Holy Scripture is quite clear about them. Holy Scripture - and the requirements it sets forth for true Christian discipleship and a fully loving and Christian life - applies equally to everyone, everywhere, without exception. This belief is firmly rooted in the ancient traditions of the Church, and is a hallmark of our generous and inclusive Anglo-Catholic theology.

We believe…

that Jesus Christ alone is without sin, and that His merit alone accounts us righteous before God, not that which we can do of our own volition. We believe that, because He is the Word through whom all things were made, we must conform our lives according to His will.

We believe…

that the Holy Spirit is moving among us in bold, traditional ways, and is calling us to live into exciting old understandings of Christ’s Gospel! We invite you to join us.

At Mount Calvary…

As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
