Fall Ember Days
Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday are the traditional quarterly Ember Days, which we observe within the ordinariate. In advance of the harvest, the autumnal Ember Days are a time of prayer and fasting with a tone of expectant faith.
Bus Stop Breakfast
We will host our next Bus Stop Breakfast on September 21st from 8:00 am to about 10:00 am. Mount Calvary parishioners will prepare and serve a hot breakfast to the community outside our front doors. There is a methadone clinic across the street from the church, and many men and women who are struggling with addiction visit the clinic on Saturday mornings for treatment. We are able to serve them in a small way as we hand out egg sandwiches and hot coffee. The ministry, although new, has brought many opportunities for deep conversation, prayer, and witness. And we hope we can continue to touch the hearts of these men and women with the love of Christ and give them hope in their struggles. Contact Abby Scharbach for details.

Canonization Mass for Blessed John Henry Newman
John Henry Newman will be canonized on Sunday, October 13th, 2019, at a Mass in St. Peter's Square celebrated by Pope Francis. This is a moment of great joy for the whole Ordinariate as the universal Church recognizes and celebrates the heroic virtue and heavenly intercession of our convert Cardinal and Saint. Although there isn't an Ordinariate-wide pilgrimage planned to Rome for the canonization Mass, Bishop Lopes has reserved a block of tickets. If you are planning to attend, let Fr. Scharbach know that you need tickets. Our parish will honor the canonization of Blessed John Henry Newman one month from today -- on Sunday, October 13th. Be there and invite others, as this is truly Newman's parish in Baltimore. Ours was the first parish to embrace his Oxford Movement in the United States. Newman also knew of Mount Calvary, even as he personally received a Mount Calvary priest (Bishop Curtis) into the Catholic Church. There will be a 10am Mass including Newman's own hymns, a special choral evensong at 4pm, and more details to follow soon.
Troops of St. George
Our newly chartered Troop of St. George will be meeting on Monday, October 14th at 5:30 pm on the campus of the All Saints Sisters of the Poor, in Catonsville. If you can get there earlier the sisters pray evening prayer in the chapel at 5:00 pm. Contact Dan Schlattman for details and visit troopsofstgeorge.com for more info.
Regional Mass for St John Henry Newman in Philadelphia
On the Tuesday following the canonization, a mid-Atlantic regional celebration will take place at the Cathedral Basilica of Ss Peter and Paul in Philadelphia. The Ordinariate Vicar General, Fr. Timothy Perkins, will be the homilist and celebrant (Bp Lopes will be in Rome). Parking available in the parking lot adjacent to the Cathedral, use entrance on 17th St.
